The Royal Film Commission – Jordan (RFC) is pleased to invite you to take part in a masterclass on “Cinematography - Painting with Lights” with established cinematographer Valentina Caniglia.

Time & Date: 11th September. 6PM – 9PM. 

Location: Royal Film Commission – Jordan, Jabal Amman 1st Circle – 7 Omar Bin Khattab Street.

About the masterclass: This masterclass will provide an elaboration on how light can be used as a powerful storytelling tool in cinematography. Participants will be guided through the creative process of lighting design, learning how to manipulate light to showcase specific moods, create visual texture, and enhance the emotional depth of a scene. The focus will be on understanding how lighting choices can transform a simple shot into a visually captivating and emotional moment.

About the speaker:

Valentina Caniglia is an award-winning cinematographer originally from Naples, Italy, now based in Los Angeles after over a decade in New York. Recognized in TeenVogue’s ‘Meet the Cinematographers Behind Some of the Biggest Movies’ and honored with the ASC Vision Award, Caniglia is celebrated for her exceptional lighting and camera work. Her credits include the TV series “The Captain” and the feature film “Pomegranates and Myrrh”, which won the Golden Dagger for Best Cinematography at the Muscat Film Festival. Her work spans into various genres and formats, including “Adieu Lacan”, “Without Grace”, and the Apple TV series “Dear X”. Caniglia’s recent projects include the thriller “ISOLA” and upcoming releases “Quail Hallow” and “Resentment”. She has also directed “The Amytal Therapy” and contributed to major brands and music videos. Her unique visual style and emotional depth have earned her widespread recognition in the industry.
