Mezquite's Heart

Lucía, a Yoreme girl in Northern Mexico, dreams of healing her father's broken heart by playing the harp, which is traditionally played only by men in her community.   

The film won Best International Feature Film in the Category "Children's Film" at the International Film Festival for Children and Young Audience SCHLiNGEL, Best Film Award of The City of Malmö Children's Film Award at the 2021 BUFF International Film Festival, and the Best Fiction Award at the 2020 BannabáFest - Festival Internacional de Cine de Derechos Humanos de Panamá.
