First Intake at the Jordan Cinema Academy Kicks off
The Jordan Cinema Academy – a program by The Royal Film Commission – Jordan in cooperation with the German Jordanian University – is pleased to announce the start of the academic year for its first intake today.
Out of 116 applicants, 14 were selected from all over the Kingdom in addition to students from Egypt, Syria, Palestine and Lebanon. Accepted students are enrolled in an academic program consisting of four semesters that start with an Introduction to Filmmaking module with the experienced Egyptian director Khaled El Hagar and end in January 2026. The diploma is accredited by the Jordanian Technical and Vocational Skills Development Commission.
The Academy has taken the German Jordanian University campus as its headquarters consisting of several spaces, including, a film library, an equipment an editing and a sound room.
The Academy awards a diploma after students complete an intensive theoretical and practical program. The program aims to educate and train a new generation of filmmakers in Jordan, to foster talent and contribute to the local and international film industry. The curriculum of the Jordan Cinema Academy has been carefully designed by a group of Jordanian and Arab experts to be a transformative full-time program. This initiative is in line with Jordan’s vision for economic modernization, which recognizes filmmaking as a pivotal component of the broader Creative Industries sector.
The faculty includes highly experienced Jordanian and Arab filmmakers, headed by Egyptian filmmaker and producer Hossamelddine Elouan, with the teaching in Arabic.
About the Royal Film Commission – Jordan
The Royal Film Commission – Jordan (RFC) is a public institution, with administrative and financial autonomy, established in 2003 with a mandate to promote for and contribute to the development of an internationally competitive Jordanian audio-visual industry. The RFC organizes training workshops, screenings and provides production support services.
