SUBMISSIONS ARE OPEN FOR THE JORDAN CINEMA ACADEMY
Amman, 28th July, 2024 – The Jordan Cinema Academy – a program by The Royal Film Commission – Jordan in cooperation with the German Jordan University - is pleased to announce the opening of submissions to the first intake of its Film Diploma.
The Academy offers a diploma, after an intensive theoretical and practical program. The objective is to educate and train a new generation of filmmakers in Jordan, nurturing talents and contributing to the local and international film industry. The academic staff includes Jordanian and Arab filmmakers with a high level of expertise, and the teaching language is in Arabic.
The curriculum of the Jordan Cinema Academy is meticulously crafted and poised to become a transformative 17-month, full-time endeavor. This initiative aligns with Jordan's vision of economic modernization, recognizing the film industry as a pivotal component of the broader "Creative Industries" sector.
The agreement between the two entities was signed by Mohannad Al-Bakri, Managing Director of the RFC, and Prof. Ala'aldeen Al-Halhouli, President of GJU.
“The shared vision of the RFC and GJU will bridge the gap between academia and the filmmaking industry, providing a platform for comprehensive education and practical training, which is the first of its kind in Jordan”, said Mohannad Al-Bakri.
Prof. Al-Halhouli said that “GJU is committed to provide state-of-the-art programs ensuring that students are equipped with the most current skills and knowledge required by today's job market. Our dedication to excellence has led to a natural partnership with the RFC, enabling the introduction of innovative programs that meet the demands of modern education and industry standards.”
The first intake of students will include twenty students, under the age of 30, some benefiting from scholarships provided by the Academy. The first semester begins in September 2024, and the call for submissions is open until the 31st of July.
